The girl on the scooter

Murielle Vanhove

Acrylic on canvas

100cm x 100cm x 5cm

Unique piece

3500,00

Murielle paints the present moment, what she sees. A pedestrian crosses the street, a woman walks in the sun. On her canvas, she forcefully captures the fluidity of a moment, the elegance of a body. Crowds move in a precise, energetic gesture. She plays with rhythms and colors. Light enters the canvas and takes over the entire space. Murielle moves forward like her characters, embedded in an ever-changing world. Winks and dress codes, the hallmarks of our society. It confronts the instantaneous with the passing of time. His paintings speak of everyday life, of the people we meet, of our accelerated lives.

About the artist

Portrait

Murielle Vanhove

Born in Paris in 1963, Murielle Vanhove has always been fascinated by the dynamics of cities and urban travelling. Even as a teenager, she watched people come and go in her parents' Parisian brasserie. Hiding behind her sketchbooks, she sketched the energy of the rush, where crowds of anonymous people jostle and cross paths. Having received a comprehensive education in painting, drawing and photography at ESAG Penninghen, she obtained a Master's degree in Art Direction in 1987, which initially led her to work in advertising agencies. However, she soon felt the need to reconnect with gesture and material. After ten years of graphic design, she decided to abandon the screen in favor of brush and paintbrush. Her portraits and scenes of city life are now collected in Paris, New York, London, Brussels, Basel and Hong Kong.
