Yann Ruminy, whose artist name is Kesa graffiti, is a French painter and graffiti artist.
Born in the Paris region in 1989, he took a family trip to his mother’s native Yemen in 2002, where he discovered Arabic calligraphy and Yemeni art. It was a revelation that led to his early interest in art and calligraphy.
In the Paris region, he discovered the world of graffiti, still underground. Every move is an opportunity to observe new walls, tags and graffiti. He quickly developed a passion for this free art form, which became indispensable to him. His first graffiti on legal and vandal walls came in 2003. As part of the street-art scene, he met a number of Parisian graffiti artists and was also a member of several collectives.
In 2005, he produced his first canvases and developed artistic projects following commissions from town halls, and began exhibiting his work at various Parisian shows.
In 2010, he joined the Beaux-Arts de Montpellier art school, where he discovered and studied new techniques (engraving, silkscreening, sculpture, etc.). He perfected his skills there while continuing his personal work.
A graduate of the Beaux-arts but loyal to graffiti and the freedom of gesture and inspiration, he remains an instinctive artist who likes to paint directly, without prior sketches, allowing his spontaneity to express itself fully.
