For her first solo show at the gallery, Popy Loly de Monteysson has created new pieces that include the framing in the artworks.
She draws with black or blue pen on Fine Art paper as well as on the old wooden frames that she has previously found in auctions or antic shops. In her new compositions, Popy Loly integrates plaster, acrylic and ink and plays with the mixture of genres.
The result is astonishing. The artworks oscillate between baroque and modernity, between the simplicity of the line and the exuberance of a rococo style frame, between the sobriety of black and white and the profusion of colors on Pop style Marquises.
Popy Loly does not lack style, talent or humor. She has the gift of offering her subjects humanity and history. Becoming a Dalmatian under Popy Loly’s pen is to be born blessed by the fairies!
