INTERIOR PORTRAITS
Opening Saturday, September 18, 7 p.m.
The painting of Fred Alione is invited to the 38th edition of the European Heritage Days which this year carries a unifying ambition and an inclusive spirit that can be found in the unusual, original and playful universe of the artist. “It was Jean-Michel Basquiat who made me want to paint” …Fred Alione, pressureist painter at the crossroads of realistic painting, graffiti and comic strips, creates works representing scenes of Parisian interiors which reminiscent of the Interiors series by Roy Lichtenstein. These are universes imagined by the artist which are both lofts but also bright artist studios. He enjoys adding nods to art icons… In these fictitious settings life settles in “What amuses me is creating details”, with some traces of everyday life, a recurrence of the plant, still lifes… “but I now manage to control the end of my paintings. This is also the hardest part of painting: knowing when to stop”.
