Barrou Planquart: The Story of a Passion

Always passionate about art, Virginie Barrou Planquart decided in 2010 to open a gallery to introduce the public to the works of emerging or established artists who adhere to a well-defined artistic vision.

In the face of gloom, Virginie Barrou Planquart champions positive art. Her philosophy boils down to one question: whether abstract or figurative, does this work make you feel good? She seeks out luminous, colorful, poetic or humorous, positive and optimistic canvases, rich in a deeper meaning that aligns with the gallery’s humanist and environmental values, to offer collectors and visitors alike a happy, even joyful break, a moment of lightness or reflection.

Beyond her role as an art dealer, Virginie Barrou Planquart places major importance on her relationship with artists. She particularly enjoys introducing the public to enthusiastic emerging artists who, at the beginning of their careers, need the support and visibility a gallery can provide. Over the years, these emerging artists become established, forming the gallery’s solid artistic foundation.

Interested in a plurality of techniques, the gallery presents works by visual artists, painters (oil, acrylic, or mixed media), photographers, sculptors, and ceramists. Studio artists work alongside urban artists who combine murals and canvas painting.

To reach a wide audience, Galerie Barrou Planquart has been present every year since its creation at numerous contemporary art fairs in Europe (London, Brussels, Berlin, Stockholm, Paris, Basel, Madrid, etc.), thus creating a recurring meeting point with its international collectors.

In parallel, the gallerist offers a program of solo and group exhibitions throughout the year at her galleries in Paris Montlignon and Biarritz.

Virginie Barrou Planquart has implemented an CSR approach in her gallery, notably focusing on reducing the environmental impact of art transportation.
